Narges Norouzi has been named an NSF NAIRR AI Education Fellow, selected to serve as an ambassador for advancing AI education along with 24 fellows from across the United States.
Norouzi is associate dean for students at the UC Berkeley College of Computing, Data Science, and Society and an associate teaching professor in the Department of Electrical Engineering and Computer Sciences (EECS). She works on human-centered machine learning, with an emphasis on AI for education and personalization, and leads interdisciplinary projects to design tools that are transparent, reliable and effective in real learning environments. Norouzi earned her Ph.D. and master’s degree in computer engineering from the University of Toronto.
The Computing Research Association (CRA) announced the inaugural cohort of NSF NAIRR AI Education Fellows, reflecting broad geographic and institutional reach – spanning public and private universities, community colleges and varied higher education settings.
Funded by the National Science Foundation (NSF), the NSF NAIRR AI Education Fellowship at CRA brings together faculty champions committed to strengthening undergraduate AI education. Fellows will help expand access to high-quality AI education resources and foster a national community of practice focused on effective AI teaching.
Fellows will pilot and adapt courses utilizing National AI Research Resource (NAIRR) Pilot Classroom resources, support faculty nationwide in integrating these materials into courses, and help shape the strategic direction of the NAIRR Pilot Classroom and the NAIRR AI EDU Research Coordination Network. They will also lead monthly seminars, participate in strategic working meetings and champion the adoption of AI education resources on their campuses and beyond.
