Seminar | March 9 | 2:30-3:30 p.m. | 521 Cory Hall

 Alvin Wan, Research Scientist, Apple

Electrical Engineering and Computer Sciences (EECS)

We'll discuss the building blocks for Large Language Models (LLMs) using an illustration-first approach. In particular, we'll visually construct an LLM from first principles -- motivate and discuss the intuition for transformers, make connections to other concepts in machine learning, and compose transformers to produce an LLM.
