Data Discovery
The Data Discovery program provides a unique opportunity for students to engage in hands-on projects that tackle real-world problems using data. In partnership with faculty, companies, government, nonprofits, and other organizations, more than 200 students participate each semester in projects that build on their computer science, data science, and statistics skills to make an impact.

Career Support
CDSS collaborates with Berkeley Career Engagement to connect students with job opportunities, internships, and pathways to graduate and professional schools. In addition to these campus-wide services, the CDSS offers tailored career workshops, networking events, and small group and individual support to help students achieve their career goals.

Community Engagement
CDSS believes that a strong community is the foundation of student success. Through student organizations such as the Data Science Society of Berkeley, the Association of Women Scientists in EECS (AWE), and the Black Engineering and Science Student Association (BESSA), there are many opportunities for students to participate actively in shaping the college experience.
In addition, CDSS values student perspectives in decision-making. The CDSS Dean's Undergraduate Leadership Forum, CDSS Dean's Undergraduate Student Cabinet, and other college-level committees provide opportunities for students to share insights, shape policies, and influence the future of the college.

Transfer Empowerment Program
Transfer students bring unique perspectives and experiences that enrich the College of Computing, Data Science, and Society, and they are supported through dedicated programming, including mentorship, welcome events, social gatherings, and skill-building workshops. Throughout a transfer student’s journey, CDSS Student Services ensures students feel connected and empowered to thrive in the Berkeley campus environment.
