CDSS Transfer Students

Through an interactive seminar, you’ll develop the essential skills that go beyond your degree. Strengthen your leadership abilities, build resilience, and discover your true potential in an environment that encourages curiosity and continuous learning. In this 1-unit, P/NP course, students will be able to identify resources that will facilitate the development of academic, personal, and professional goals. For example, you’ll have the opportunity to meet with faculty, gain insight into what research is about, and receive personalized advice on building your resume to enhance your career prospects. 

University life can sometimes feel isolating, but the Transfer Mentor Program provides a supportive community. The program creates a space where transfer students can connect with others, form lasting friendships, and build a network of support that will continue beyond your time at Berkeley.

Through the Transfer Mentor Program, you'll be paired with a mentor who is also a transfer student, someone who has experienced the challenges you're facing and can guide you to valuable resources and opportunities.

Meet Hello World - The Transfer Track

Hello World is a new program designed to foster a supportive academic environment for incoming computer science, data science, and statistics students in CDSS. The program connects students through regular meetings with trained near-peer mentors – both in small groups and one-on-one – to help them navigate our CDSS community. For transfer students, the program also introduces resources for internships and post-graduation employment.
