The series will feature conversations among diverse panelists, including activists, educators, and professionals, who will share their personal experiences and insights on crucial topics. Attendees will have an opportunity to network, learn, and engage in a meaningful dialogue with our panelists and each other. The Lodestar Speaker Series is open to current I-House residents, alumni, and the greater community.

Panelists' Information:
1. Dr. Crystal Chang Cohen, Continuing Lecturer, Political Economy and Global Studies Programs, UC Berkeley
Dr. Chang is a Continuing Lecturer in the Political Economy and Global Studies programs at the University of California, Berkeley. She teaches a range of undergraduate courses including Contemporary Theories of Political Economy, Gender in Asia, China and India in the Age of Globalization, Global China, and Silicon Valley and the Global Economy. She also teaches a graduate seminar on Comparative Regionalism for the Global Studies Masters Program. Prior to teaching at UC Berkeley, she was a Postdoctoral Fellow at the Walter H. Shorenstein Asia-Pacific Research Center at Stanford University. Dr. Chang received her Ph.D. in Political Science from the University of California, Berkeley, her M.A. in International Affairs from University of California, San Diego, and her B.A. in International Relations from Stanford University.
2. Dr. Emily Harburg, Founder and CEO of PairUp
Dr. Emily Harburg is the CEO and founder of PairUp, a platform that meaningfully connects communities together. Emilys background spans industry, startups, and academia. She has worked in industry at Disney Imagineering, Facebook (Meta), and EF Education First. She also co-founded Brave Initiatives, an organization dedicated to helping women learn how to code and now supports training the incarcerated. Emily graduated with a B.A. in Social Anthropology and Psychology from Harvard College, and with a Ph.D. in Technology and Social Behavior from Northwestern University. Emily's research has been shared in global conferences, academic journals, case studies, and news publications -- including the Harvard Business Review, TEDx, Computer Human Interaction (CHI), CNN, and more.
3. Juliana Wise, Director and Owner of JWise Projects, Sr. Program Manager-Marketing Operations at Sephora
Juliana is an executive level, certified project manager (PMP) and MBA who holds 12 years of expertise in the retail industry. Her experience includes retail operations, marketing, product development, product launches, and experiential event execution, and she currently manages the development of marketing assets for a global beauty brand. She has managed projects for fashion, jewelry, beauty, tech, creative, and coaching businesses and thrives at working cross-functionally to deliver successful projects. Specializing in Project and Process Management and Process Automation, Juliana mixes technical project management philosophies with a creative, brand-driven, customer and team-centric approach.
