Theresa Nelson

Theresa Nelson, MBA, CFRE, has 40 years of experience advising nonprofit organizations in campaigns, fundraising and marketing, board governance, and strategic planning, as well as serving as interim chief development officer for more than 30 nonprofits. Earlier in her career she served as a director of development and executive director of various nonprofits.

As a consultant, her clients have ranged from UC Berkeley, Cal Performances, the Asian Art Museum, the Bay Area Discovery Museum, California Academy of Sciences, and the Exploratorium, to Grace Cathedral, the Homeless Prenatal Program, the Marine Mammal Center, the Glide Foundation, Save the Bay, and the Graduate Theological Union. She taught nonprofit management at Berkeley’s Haas School of Business and the University of San Francisco’s Master of Nonprofit Administration program. She is a board member of Children’s Fairyland in Oakland and serves on the board of directors for Humanities West, an organization she co-founded.
