Founded in 1975 with a single group home in Moss Beach outside of San Francisco, Aspiranet has become one of California’s largest and most successful social service organizations. Aspiranet is a 501 (c) (3) California nonprofit organization with the mission of providing children, youth, and families with a foundation of support so they can thrive at home, at school, and in their communities.

Building on the project completed in the Fall, Aspiranet seeks to continue analysis of data to identify disparities in service outcomes. The Fall project focused on incidents and the Spring project will focus on youth assessments. Our Agency utilizes the Child and Adolescent Needs and Strengths (CANS) assessment to measure the impact of our services. However, with current resources at present, we are only able interpret the data using simple comparisons of pre/post assessment scores. We hope to complete a more in-depth review to:

1. Determine correlations between youth characteristics and the tool. (For example, are youth of certain ages more likely to have specific needs and/or strengths? Are youth certain races more likely to have needs in certain assessment domains?)

2. Determine if there is any correlation of CANS on outcomes. For example, are youth with needs in specific domains more likely to have a “successful” or “unsuccessful” outcome? Or are youth with a given CANS domain more likely to have an incident?)

The number of variables to consider has not yet been finalized and can be explored with the Discovery Team. The reporting from the Discovery Team would be most useful to our team if presented in a simple and visual manner.
