Wisdm is a Berkeley-born startup that aims to level the playing field between institutional investors and retail investors with regard to the information available to make informed investment decisions, both on the stock market and with regard to crypto.
Investing in the stock market is a very daunting task. You have to do your research, cross-check the information, and have a solid plan before you even think about putting any money into the market. The problem is that most people are very impatient and don't take the time necessary to properly research and ending up losing money in the long run.
SEC filings are a big part of researching the stocks that you are considering investing in. The SEC is the government organization that regulates all investment activity in the United States and they have filings that can give you great insight into a companies financial status and future earnings potential. This information is free online for everyone to access - but SEC filings are usually over 20+ pages long and contain technical language and jargon that is difficult to understand unless you have a background in finance or accounting.
The project is to scan SEC filings for the most relevant points, and present them in a way that anyone can easily understand without having to read through all the technical jargon.
