Using Artificial Intelligence to search for Extraterrestrial Intelligence

The Breakthrough Listen project has generated petabytes of data from the world's most powerful telescopes. We're using these datasets to search for "technosignatures" - signs of technology that may have been developed by intelligent life on other worlds. The challenge is to separate out the needle of a potential ET signal from the haystack of human-generated interference. The Discovery team will help build on previous machine learning approaches to generate synthetic signals and to help search for candidates in our dataset.
