The Student Experience in the Research University (SERU) Consortium is an academic and policy research collaboration based at Center for Studies in Higher Education at the UC Berkeley working in partnership with 40 member universities in the US and internationally. SERU’s goal is to promote and enhance evidencebased management and provide a path for institutional self-improvement, focusing on increasing student success.

Consortium members collaborate through the following activities:
- The generation of institutional, comparative, and longitudinal data on the student experience and outcomes in research universities, including administration of on-line census SERU undergraduate and graduate surveys.
- Sharing of best practices and SERU data among member universities.
- Promoting and supporting the systematic use by Consortium members of data and analysis as tools for policy and scholarly relevant research and institutional self-improvement.

SERU’s motto: "Every Student Has A Voice. Every Voice Is Heard."

The project aims to create a series of interactive dashboards visualizing 10-year trends in the undergraduate student experience. The project team use a dataset containing over 1 million survey responses collected by the SERU Consortium and create visualizations of trends in students' time use, academic engagement, campus climate, financial concerns and satisfaction. These interactive reports will inform the public and universities about the long-term trends in student learning and well-being, and support campus stakeholders in their efforts to improve student success.
