We have empowered undergraduates to help develop curriculum, take on substantive research, etc. Hundreds of students every semester engage as full partners in curriculum design, research, advising, and communications.

The School of Information is UC Berkeley’s newest professional school. Located in the center of campus, the I School is a graduate research and education community committed to expanding access to information and to improving its usability, reliability, and credibility while preserving security and privacy. This requires the insights of scholars from diverse fields — information and computer science, design, social sciences, management, law, and policy.

The School of Information does not offer any undergraduate degrees, but does offer undergraduate courses that may be of interest to students from many academic disciplines.

We are a community engaged in research and education in probability and statistics. In addition to developing fundamental theory and methodology, we are actively involved in statistical problems that arise in such diverse fields as molecular biology, geophysics, astronomy, AIDS research, neurophysiology, sociology, political science, education, demography, and the U.S. Census.
