May 2024 Program Update

After nine years of connecting talented students with research partners, the Data Science Discovery program is closing after Spring 2024 to make way for an exciting new undergraduate research program at the College of Computing, Data Science, and Society (CDSS). The program has benefited from the thousands of students and hundreds of partners who have participated. The new undergraduate research program planned for Fall 2024 will be open to all CDSS undergraduate students and will seek to continue partnerships and develop new ones. Additional information will be shared with students, faculty,  and partners once program details are confirmed.

Success Stories

A Discovery project used satellite imagery to bring real-time pest information to farmers in Africa, restructured data infrastructures to facilitate water quality monitoring systems for state regulators in California, and used computer vision to help UCSF doctors identify irregularities in x-ray images. And that’s just the beginning.
