Arpita Roy is a lecturer at the College of Computing, Data Science, and Society (CDSS). An anthropologist of science and technology, she spent years among the physicists of CERN. That fieldwork has been published as "Unfinished Nature: Particle Physics at CERN" (Columbia University Press, 2024). Her writing has appeared in "Cultural Anthropology, HAU: Journal of Ethnographic Theory, Signs and Society, Dialectical Anthropology, and Religions." Her current research examines the rise of quantum computing and artificial intelligence in Europe, with CERN as her primary field site. She asks how these technologies are refashioning scientific subjects as institutions learn to innovate responsibly.
