Henry Geng

Henry Geng joined the UC Berkeley College of Computing, Data Science, and Society as Assistant Dean of Development and Chief Development Officer in October 2026. A development executive and people leader with more than a decade of experience in higher education and healthcare fundraising, Geng is known for building trusted partnerships with academic leaders and for developing the staff who work alongside him.

Before joining UC Berkeley, Geng served as Senior Director of Development at UC San Diego Rady School of Management, where he led a comprehensive development and alumni relations team and served on the dean’s senior leadership cabinet. During his tenure, his team secured significant philanthropic support for the school and achieved record alumni giving and volunteer engagement, expanding access for students, deepening support for faculty research, and building a stronger philanthropic pipeline for the school's future.

Before UC San Diego, Geng held a series of progressively senior roles at Boston University, culminating in Senior Director of Development for Special Initiatives, where he secured significant gifts for the university's top institutional priorities. He began his career at Brigham and Women's Hospital, a Harvard Medical School teaching hospital, raising gifts from patients and families to improve clinical care, research, education, and capital projects for obstetrics, gynecology, and pediatric newborn medicine.

Geng holds a bachelor's degree in environmental economics from Bates College and a master’s of business administration from Boston University.
