Algorithmic Analysis to Better Connect Patients with Services

Medical data is not the prettiest, however, it is definitely one of the most informative and could be extremely powerful. Exploring underlying patterns in medical data to better understand patient needs and support patient care has been the primary objective of our project.

This semester, our partner was Asian Health Services (AHS) Oakland. We aimed to use their Electronic Health Record (EHR) data, clinical notes, and referral information to help with patient triages. To accomplish this goal, we explored the following aspects throughout this semester:

- De-identification of patient data

- EHR data & common healthcare data model

- Natural Language Processing (NLP) applications on clinical notes
