Flaubert Project - Literary Analysis

Learned about the political, cultural, social/economic context under which Flaubert wrote Madame Bovary, the aesthetic/literary trends at that time and the author’s editing process as well as the pushback of the publication. Analyzed Flaubert’s different emphasis on key characters (Emma Bovary, Charles Bovary and Monsieur Homais), examined overall themes and symbols to gain a thorough understanding of the book.
