As a professional degree program, students in the Master of Artificial Intelligence and Machine Learning (MAIML) program will benefit from career and student services, curated events, company site visits, and community-building activities, including an orientation program. The program will offer dedicated staff to help with resume and interview preparation, alumni introductions and job offer negotiation.
Alumni Network
MAIML students will join the Cal Alumni Association with graduates working across corporations, start-ups, nonprofits and government agencies. UC Berkeley is a trusted resource for scores of innovative companies in the Bay Area and around the world. These organizations prize Berkeley students for their mastery of the tools needed to perform at a skilled level and their solid grasp of the changing technological and societal landscape.
Communication Skills for Data Professionals
A dedicated professional development course will introduce students to topics such as workplace communication, storytelling, negotiation, crafting effective presentations, and job search strategies. Students will also engage with guest speakers from industry to better understand current expectations and trends.
Exclusive Events and Workshops
Events will give students the opportunity to deepen relationships with their peers as well as network with and learn from industry professionals. Students will also benefit from an orientation program with guest speakers from leading companies.
Workshops – co-developed with industry leaders – will expose students to in-demand skills and tools not typically covered in program coursework. Program staff will collaborate with students to cultivate an inclusive, engaging culture through informal gatherings such as movie and game nights, or local excursions to destinations like Lake Tahoe or Napa Valley, CA.
Silicon Valley Immersion Program
Prior to the start of the spring semester, students will participate in a signature two-day Silicon Valley immersion program designed to bridge academic learning with real-world application. This immersive experience will include visits to leading technology corporations, startups and top venture capital firms to explore how artificial intelligence and machine learning are shaping products, business models and strategy.
Students will engage in curated site visits featuring live demos and behind-the-scenes tours. Each day will include facilitated roundtables, presentations and networking lunches with alumni, company professionals and senior executives, providing invaluable exposure to AI practices and emerging trends.
In addition to deepening students’ understanding of the AI/ML landscape, the immersion will foster career exploration, cultivate professional relationships and provide insights that cannot be replicated in a classroom setting.
