Overview

Through the Pathways project, UC Berkeley's Data Science Undergraduate Studies collaborates with California universities and community colleges to enhance foundational data science education statewide. This initiative facilitates seamless transitions for students from 2-year to 4-year California higher education institutions, empowering them to excel in the field of data science.

Project Goals

  • FDS Faculty Engagement: Scale UC Berkeley's Foundations of Data Science (FDS) course, also known as Data 8, state-wide and localize FDS with new content and datasets to engage with equity across institutions.
  • Streamlined Transfer Pathway: Develop a clear and documented pathway with a proper institutional support structure for students to transfer from two- to four-year colleges.
  • Accessibility and Eligibility: Increase the number of students able to pursue a DS degree through articulation agreements.
  • Institutional Partnerships: Build stronger collaborations in DS education.
  • Equity in DS Education: Address the equity gap with broad outreach, improved retention, and localized curriculum for diverse student access.
