Data Science Major and Minor Advising

Current students may schedule a 30-minute advising appointment with a Data Science Major Advisor.

Advising appointments become available each weekday, up to 1 week in advance. If you don't see any appointments available, please try again the following day or come to our drop-in advising hours instead (schedule below).

For virtual appointments, you will receive an email confirmation with a Zoom link.

• Who: Drop-in advising is for UC Berkeley students only. You must enter your Student ID number to add to the queue. Your session may be with a Data Science Peer Advisor or Major Advisor.
• Where: Drop-in advising is available in person in the Gateway Building at the CDSS Student Services office (Level 1 Northeast) and online.
• When: Drop-in advising is available during the Fall and Spring semesters from Week 1 through RRR Week, and during Summer Session. Drop-in advising is not available during Finals week or during breaks between terms.

How to Join Drop-in Hours:

1. Sign In to join the waiting list during drop-in hours. Select whether you are in-person or online. This link is only active during drop-in hours as listed in the calendar above.
2. View Queue to check your position. Note that the queue may not move in chronological order depending on who is waiting and which advising staff are available.

For In-Person:

• When your name reaches the top of the queue, make sure to be present in the Gateway Building at the CDSS Student Services office (Level 1 Northeast).
• As soon as an advisor is available, your name will disappear from the queue and then the advisor will call your name in the lobby (a small delay is normal).

For Online:

• When your name reaches the top of the queue, make sure to have your UC Berkeley email account open. 
• As soon as an advisor is available, your name will disappear from the queue. Within a minute or two, you will receive an email with a link to join your online Google Meet or Zoom session.
• Join your session within 5 minutes of receiving the email.

The sign-in form will be closed 10 minutes before the end of the scheduled drop-in shift. It may also be closed earlier if the queue is full.
