I love exploring any overlap between sustainability and data science and seeing how that intersectionality can also impact other fields. Hi everyone! My name is Asbah, and I am a junior studying Data Science and Cognitive Science, and I am also pursuing the Berkeley Certificate in Design Innovation. I was first exposed to the Data Science field when I took Data 8 in my first semester at Cal. Data 8 opened my eyes to the numerous applications of Data Science to almost any other field, which spurred my interest in the subject even further. Cognitive Science is also an interdisciplinary field, and I find it fascinating how both subjects go hand-in-hand. This encouraged me to become more involved in organizations at Cal, such as DSUS, to share my passion with my peers. I have previously been on course staff for Data 100, and am currently a part of the Data 144 course staff. In my free time, I enjoy drawing, painting, reading, going on walks, and organizing. Hello! My name is Michelle and I’m a junior studying Data Science and Cognitive Science. My experience in Data 100 + cogsci courses is what further established my interest in the intersection of data science and neuroscience! Outside of classes, I serve as the Outreach Director for the Hispanic Engineers and Scientists chapter on campus where I lead several events aimed at promoting the pursuit of STEM in higher ed to K-12 students. Through this role and other similar ones on campus, I’ve gained a passion for helping students navigate resources to help them succeed! Aside from this, I’m also assisting with research in the Helen Wills Neuroscience Institute on somatosensory motor learning in humans! In my free time I like exploring new restaurants, searching for the best sunset spots, watching historical dramas, and yapping with friends. Hi everyone! My name is Nicole Inga, and I'm a junior double majoring in Data Science and Economics at UC Berkeley. As a first-generation Latinx student, I wasn’t sure which path to take when I first arrived at Berkeley, but everything changed after I took Data 8. Although it was more challenging than I anticipated, it sparked my interest for data science because of its broad applications across various fields. On campus, I've been involved in organizations like the Society of Women Engineers, Raices Recruitment and Retention Center, and work as a lower-division math tutor at the Student Learning Center.
